Lesley Clumeck discovered a way to merge her love for painting with her passion for glass, displayed in her current series, “Strung Out”. She’s created a technique that allows glass to mirror thick, textured paint dripping. Each piece is created using exclusively kilnfired glass. This series exhibits the exploration of depth and dimension through nuances used to create a duality that allows the perception of fluidity to appear frozen in time. The glass stringers used, along with the title, “Strung Out” lend themselves to a double entendre through the evolution of glass and the many ways people experience anxiety, tension and fear. Therein lies a direct duplexity from Lesley’s perspective, “The act of creating; a place where all | see is light and color, a place where I’m free from all of the external pressures of life, a place where | can achieve tranquility; is my way to overcome”.
